Graphic Overlays - Surface Textures

OVERVIEW:
The high quality materials used by GGI International in the manufacture of its user interface assemblies are available in a variety of textures. By default, the material selected to make the graphic overlay has one of following four textures:

  • Velvet texture: Considered a "medium" texture, can hide fingerprints and scratches.
  • Matte texture: A fine, smooth texture.
  • Anti-glare finish: Smooth, with some sheen, reduces glare in window areas.
  • Gloss finish: Maximum sheen, enhances printed colors (can show fingerprints), available in different gloss levels.

GGI International can add a screen printed texture to the raw material which opens up the opportunity to obtain different surface finishes on the same graphic overlay. We can add a new characteristic to the material or improve on an existing yet inadequate characteristic. Here are the main reasons for which GGI International may recommend applying a texture:

  • To increase the transparency of a material
  • To give a material a specific texture
  • To increase scratch resistance
  • To create relief or glossy graphic designs

TYPES OF TEXTURES USED BY GGI INTERNATIONAL

  • UV Clear: We can selectively increase the level of transparency of the material. Commonly used to create windows on materials initially having velvet or matte textures.
  • UV Matte or conventional velvet: We can create textured areas on a material which is not textured by default (anti-glare or glossy finishes). This type of texture is not recommended for embossed overlays and is limited to certain types of finishes.
  • LINDE: A texture which is processed and cured using a system that produces a nitrogen atmosphere. Allows for the creation of textured areas on a material which is not textured by default (anti-glare or glossy finishes). This type of texture can be embossed, offers great abrasion and scratch resistance (hard coat) and makes it possible to obtain numerous surface finishes. This option is more costly than other conventional textures.
