thiNcoder® RT - Benefits

  • Varied configurations: The circuit can take various configurations according to the required result. The gears can also be selected according to the required number of positions. Here 5 different basic configurations offered by GGI international.
    • Analog potentiometer: This configuration is used for applications which require a DC current. It can be used with or without gears.
      Example: Temperature control.
    • Quadrature or 2-bit repetitive Gray code: This configuration is used to obtain a control permitting increase and reduction, which can be used as an encoder or rotary knob. Available with 16 or 24 gears.
      Example: Volume control.
    • Repetitive 2-bit binary code: This configuration is used for applications which require the selection of 1 to 4 outputs and which require a binary connection for each gear.
      Example: Replacement of multiple keys.
    • Selector with 16 positions: This configuration is used for applications which require only one open circuit for each gear. The number of positions can vary from 2 to 4.
Example: Controlling the speed of an engine.
    • Increase-type potentiometer: This type of potentiometer controls an analog voltage increase or decrease by very definite steps. The benefits as compared to the conventional analog potentiometer are as follows:
      • The changes of voltage are very definite, large and by increasing steps.
      • The tolerance between each position is reduced and allows a high degree of accuracy.
      • High current can be carried.
      • Because the resistance module is printed, this reduces the manufacturing costs.
      • The contact resistance variation (CRV) in the potentiometer has no effect on the circuit.

  • Extremely thin construction: The membrane keypads using thiNcoders will have a minimal thickness smaller than 0,095", including the graphic overlay.
  • Integration of multiple technologies: The use of thiNcoder allows the easy integration of a large array of components in the membrane keypad, such as:
    • Duraswitch Pushgate keys.
    • Keys activated by metal domes.
    • Non-tactile keys.
    • Duraswitch thiNcoder controls.
    • Integration with circuit boards, by potentially increasing the available real estate and by providing greater flexibility at the design level.
    • Optional backlighting available.
    • Optional shielding available.
    • Optional increased sealing available.
    • etc...
  • Large variety of knobs available: The control knobs can take several forms already available by default or be custom-made according to your needs.
  • Low cost: The use of thiNcoder makes it possible to reduce manufacturing costs.
    • Reduced component costs.
    • Integration eliminates the secondary assembly processes.
    • No soldering required.
    • The circuit is environmentally sealed by default, by eliminating any through-holes.
